My son is studying to be architect and has a real good eye. He
advised me to work in a limited palette and avoid facial features.
Sometimes I listen.
In this painting, I was going for simplicity, mystery AND tension.
something that would attract the viewer to the poster and to the
event. I was not particularly concerned about producing an accurate
rendering, so long as the figure read like a thin man or woman on a
tightrope or roof.
The way the paper is divided is my homage to Lautrec. Very little
information was provided in the original, in order to keep the
design clean. The letters and numerals are highly stylized. As in
all my posters, the information the public needs to know about the
event can be omitted from the original, but included in the
reproductions.
